Oh, and you can’t beat happy hour one dollar fish tacos Tuesday and Thursday from 5PM to 8PM. Whether you want four of one kind or one of each (beer battered fish, grilled chicken, carne asada, vegetarian), your wish will be granted. Though all four are uncompromisingly fresh and delicious, we were most surprised at how much we enjoyed the vegetarian taco (Mexican squash, onion, black beans, cilantro, chile de arbol, lime, Cotija cheese).

29 January 2023: Though (unless it’s fried) chicken is my least favorite protein, the Cali burrito with carne asada had so many other complementary flavors that I figured a Cali burrito with chicken would also be pretty good. A flour tortilla as large as a manhole cover is rolled up with fries, Monterey cheese, Mexican cream, chipotle aioli and tomatillo into a burrito as thick as my arm. It’s a magnificent and maybe a bit intimidating burrito not for the faint of appetite. Few restaurants in Albuquerque prepare their fries as well as The Last Call. The fries are thinly sliced and flaccid with plenty of salt. The sauces–Mexican cream, chipotle aioli and tomatillo–don’t seem to get in each others’ way. They go very well together and create a cohesive flavor profile. This is the burrito you want when you’re more than just hungry; you’re ravenous or famished.

Cali Burrito with Chicken

Whether it’s 8PM or later you consider a late evening, The Last Call offers a terrific dining option, but it’s not just a nighttime option. You can enjoy this superb Baja Mexican experience for lunch, too.

The Last Call
6261 Riverside Plaza Lane, N.W., Suite A1
Albuquerque, New Mexico
LATEST VISIT: 29 January 2023
1st VISIT: 6 December 2018
# OF VISITS: 4
RATING: 21
COST: $ – $$
BEST BET: Fish Taco, Cali Burrito with Carne Asada, Carne Asada Tacos, Signature Sammich, French Fries, Cali Burrito With Chicken
REVIEW #1080

NOTE: Shortly after the Last Call shuttered its doors, Cali Burrito Co. launched at the same familiar location.
