The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (yes, there is such a thing) estimates that Americans eat seven billion hot dogs (so it&#8217;s not just me) during the unofficial summer season which runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. That\u2019s 818 hot dogs per second and more than a third of the hot dogs eaten per year!<\/p>\n<p>July 19th has been designated National Hot Dog Day, but a case could easily be made that there are actually two days in which the not-so-humble hot dog is celebrated in America.\u00a0 The second day, of course, is the 4th of July when <a href=\"https:\/\/nathansfamous.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nathan&#8217;s Famous Hot Dogs<\/strong><\/a> sponsors its annual <a href=\"https:\/\/nathansfamous.com\/hot-dog-eating-contest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Hot Dog Eating Contest<\/strong><\/a>, the premier competitive event for gurgitators.\u00a0 It&#8217;s no surprise that\u00a0 several locations under the spacious skies have declared themselves the &#8220;<em>hot dog capital of the world<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_70862\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70862\" style=\"width: 850px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-70862 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 850px; will certainly evoke involuntary salivation.\u00a0 For everyone else, the restaurant&#8217;s external signage is certainly eye-catching with its motto of &#8220;<em>Mean Dogs.\u00a0 Nice Buns<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0 As you peruse the <a href=\"https:\/\/dogos-vip.business.site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>menu<\/strong><\/a>, you&#8217;ll bear witness to the dilemma of which Carlos spoke.\u00a0 Not only does the menu offer seven different hot dogs, but birria in four forms (tacos, queso tacos, pie and nachos).\u00a0 Three types of fries grace the menu and no ordinary fries are these (mango habanero fries, anyone?).\u00a0 Make sure to wash down your meal with an agua fresca (horchata, melon, sandia and some we&#8217;d never before seen).\u00a0 The horchata is made on the premises; indicating it&#8217;s &#8220;<em>one of those things that just makes me go wild.\u00a0 Stuffed, spicy, creamy, crunchy, piled high or as simple as can be<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>The Sonoran hot dog is a thing of beauty<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58133\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58133\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a style=\"font-weight: bold; Spanish rice which to me seems to be nothing more than a tasteless plate-filler and in rare occasions, a fire-extinguisher if chile is too piquant.\u00a0 There was too much rice on every Mission-style burrito I sampled during my visits to Baghdad by the Bay.\u00a0 Why then would I want to try Dogo VIP&#8217;s <em><strong>California Burrito<\/strong><\/em>?\u00a0 \u00a0As the oft-use aphorism goes &#8220;a picture is worth a thousand words.&#8221;\u00a0 Dogo VIP&#8217;s frequent postings on Facebook of their popular burrito are so alluring you&#8217;ll be tempted to jump on your motorized conveyance and drive to Dogo VIP.<\/p>\n<p>Dogo VIP&#8217;s California Burrito is not only photogenic, it&#8217;s a weight lifting challenge to hold in your hands.\u00a0 It seems every ingredient in the restaurant is packed into this behemoth burrito.\u00a0 Those ingredients include rice, carne asada, crispy fries, Cheddar, pico de gallo and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheetos.com\/products\/cheetos-crunchy-flamin-hot-cheese-flavored-snacks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>hot Cheetos<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The hot Cheetos provide a delightful crunch and fiery personality though they may overwhelm some of your other favorite ingredients.\u00a0 Rice, much to my delight, is somewhat lost in the amalgam of ingredients on a tortilla the size of some Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (formerly known as UFO).\u00a0 Every other ingredient adds a burrito with more personalities than <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sybil_(1976_film)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sybil<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_70863\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70863\" style=\"width: 850px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-70863 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 850px;
