font-size: small;\">A survey of\u00a0the eating habits and lifestyle preferences of various burrito consumers was recently commissioned by a fast food chain. \u00a0The survey of than 1,000 respondents between the ages of 13 and 50 unveiled especially surprising revelations about the culinary habits of millennials. \u00a0As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mic.com\/articles\/153375\/millennials-can-t-go-a-week-without-eating-a-burrito-survey-finds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Mic<\/strong><\/a>, an online presence which purports to &#8220;<em>help young people process the present<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">&#8221; noted: &#8220;<em>Millennials\u00a0apparently don&#8217;t have a lot of sex or money, but boy do they make out well in the burrito department<\/em>.&#8221; \u00a0For millennials, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">burrito is not just a source of delicious sustenance. \u00a0It&#8217;s a panacea for dateless nights, awkward conversations and\u00a0pockets with more lint than coins. \u00a0It&#8217;s also a\u00a0buffer for some of the adverse effects associated with alcohol. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">A whopping 53% of Millennial respondents admitted they would rather indulge in the world&#8217;s most awesome burrito over a romantic date with their significant other. \u00a064% of Millennials claimed a burrito is the best food to have before a night of drinking as well as for the morning after when the inevitable hang-over kicks in. \u00a0Gen X consumers have also fallen under the seductive sway of the burrito with more than 60% reporting a burrito has saved them from a sad sack lunch. \u00a0Nearly 50% of Gen Xers indicated they&#8217;d give up their favorite shirt for the world&#8217;s most awesome burrito.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_59838\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59838\" style=\"width: 536px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-59838 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 536px; font-family: Verdana;\">The survey revealed that most consumers can&#8217;t go even a week without a burrito. \u00a0Millennial respondents were the dominant demographic with 72% of respondents admitting to enjoying an average of 2 to 3 burritos a week. \u00a0 An overwhelming majority (90%) of Gen X consumers admit to eating burritos at least once a week. After selling Twisters several years ago, Gary enjoyed a short-lived retirement until his \u201cno compete\u201d agreement with Twisters elapsed. The Stripes concept isn\u2019t something he dreamt-up at the spur of the moment. Over the years he conceived of and discounted several ideas, always with the realization that New Mexicans can&#8217;t get enough of our sacrosanct New Mexican cuisine. \u00a0As you may have surmised, the name Stripes is in tribute to the enlisted men and women of the greatest armed forces in the history of the world. \u00a0Hines continues to support the troops with ten-percent of the proceeds from his restaurants going to the Veterans&#8217; Administration Hospital in Albuquerque.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_59880\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59880\" style=\"width: 637px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-59880 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 637px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 637\/650;border: 4px solid black; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" data-src=\"https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-scaled.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"637\" height=\"650\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-scaled.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 2510w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-294x300.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 294w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-1004x1024.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 1004w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-147x150.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 147w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-768x783.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 768w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-1506x1536.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 1506w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04-2008x2048.jpeg?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 2008w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04.jpeg?size=384x392&lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 384w, https:\/\/b4385483.smushcdn.com\/4385483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Stripes04.jpeg?size=512x522&lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 512w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-59880\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Famous Fried Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">There are five Stripes Burrito Co. restaurants throughout the metropolitan area, including one in Rio Rancho (Sarita and I are grateful for that). \u00a0Despite the name, it&#8217;s not all about burritos. \u00a0Stripes also offers a &#8220;famous buttermilk fried chicken sandwich&#8221; as well as chicken fingers and specialty street tacos. \u00a0If it&#8217;s burritos you&#8217;re craving, you can enjoy hand-held behemoths for breakfast and lunch. \u00a0Breakfast&#8211;eleven burritos with fresh scrambled eggs, fresh-cut papitas, cheese and your choice of red or green chile&#8211;is served all day long. \u00a0There aren&#8217;t quite as many lunch burritos, only eight, but they&#8217;re made with all the aforementioned ingredients save for scrambled eggs. \u00a0You&#8217;re welcome to request your burrito smothered with New Mexico&#8217;s beloved red or green chile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\"><strong>20 January 2022<\/strong><em><strong>: \u00a0Carne adovada<\/strong><\/em> is my Kim&#8217;s favorite burrito&#8211;to the exclusion of all others. \u00a0She&#8217;s an adovada adoring aficionado for sure, so when she gives Stripes two thumbs up, you know it&#8217;s got to be good. \u00a0Her preference is sans papitas and never smothered. \u00a0To her, there&#8217;s enough red chile in the tender pork that&#8217;s been marinated low and slow in our wondrous red. \u00a0My choice during our inaugural visit was a <em><strong>barbacoa burrito<\/strong><\/em> with papitas. \u00a0It would be disingenuous to say it was a great burrito, primarily due to the cook&#8217;s heavy hand with the salt. \u00a0It didn&#8217;t dawn on me until inadvertently hearing the motorist ahead of us during our second visit that requesting low salt was an option. \u00a0Lesson learned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\"><strong>28 January 2022<\/strong>: \u00a0Several months ago my friend Bill Resnik posted feedback it took me far too long to heed: &#8220;<em>They (Stripes) have entered the chicken sandwich wars with their own entry and I have to say, they are right up there with some of the best I have had. Their chicken sandwich was superb. A huge juicy and tender chicken breast served on a large bun with pickles and their own special sauce made this a winner. I\u2019ve been back for more three different times and each time it was excellent. \u00a0In terms of quality, it was on par (at least) with a Popeye\u2019s sandwich \u2013 maybe slightly larger. It was priced higher, but the difference is made up in the additional gasoline I would use to drive to my nearest Popeyes. 4 out of 5 overall (price drags the score down a little<\/em>). \u00a0Stripes&#8217; &#8220;famous fried chicken sandwich&#8221; is all that and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Verdana;\">No one knows burritos as well as New Mexicans. \u00a0Should you see a long line of vehicles awaiting their turn to place an order at Stripes Burrito Co., you&#8217;re well-advised to join the cavalcade of New Mexicans queueing for one of our favorite foods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;
